5 Must Watch Family Christmas Movies on Netflix

by: Jasmine Reed

It’s beginning to look like a lot like a quarantine Christmas, and we’ve got the perfect “cure.” Though it hasn’t quite been the merry and bright holiday season we’re used to, that doesn’t mean that we can’t create a little holiday cheer of our own. A Christmas movie marathon is the perfect addition to any current Christmas Eve/Day plans your family may have. Along with the classics, here’s five more family-friendly holiday movies, on Netflix, to add to your Christmas watchlist!

  • Jingle Jangle - If you or your littles ones enjoy a good musical, then you are going to love this film! It follows the story of a renowned toy maker who loses everything, after his greatest inventions are stolen by his apprentice. He really struggles in the coming years and essentially just gives up. But one day, his granddaughter comes to visit him and she helps him find the spark he’s been missing. It really tugs at your heart strings and the songs are amazing! Expect to see appearances from well-known actors and actresses such as Phylicia Rashad, Forest Whitaker and more!

  • Klaus - This animated film made it’s initial debut in 2019! It’s about the unlikely friendship of a postman and toymaker who combine their skills to deliver holiday cheer to, “the unhappiest place on earth.” It’s really neat, as it’s essentially supposed to be the story of how Santa got his start and became the jolly man kids know and love!

  • The “New” Grinch - There might be some debate about whether this new animated version is better than the original “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” that features Jim Carey. But, one thing that’s for sure, is that this remake definitely resonates with the younger generation.

  • Angela’s Christmas - Based on the children’s book written by Frank McCourt, this half hour film is inspired by a story Frank’s mother told him as a child. Taken from the trailer’s description, “Set in Ireland in the 1910s, 'Angela's Christmas' is a funny, heart-warming and poignant story about the power of family and the innocent desire of a child to ensure everyone is safe, warm and loved at Christmas time.” This is perfect if your little one tends to get antsy and the  one hour plus movies won’t do!

  • 48 Christmas Wishes - After two elves lose an entire’s town’s letters to Santa, they set out on a mission to gather each wish before it’s too late! They quickly learn that our world and life at the North Pole are quite different, and they have to figure out a way to blend in. It’s full of adventure and enjoyable for the whole family!

Hopefully you’ll add at least one of these movies to your Christmas watchlist and enjoy a special holiday treat, while you tune in. We hope  you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
