At Vinehouse Nursery we ensure that exceptional growth is produced with each month of your child’s first year, as those months prove to be pivotal stages in their development. Our desire is to plant solid roots, with a quality teacher, for our Vinehouse kids and families. We grow these roots by recycling 2 key beliefs from birth to 12 months: Nurture Creativity, Expand Self Expression and Increased Independence.
Vinehouse Nursery proudly provides developmentally appropriate programs within a warm and nurturing environment that fosters positive self-esteem and promotes creativity and individuality. We believe in a multi-sensory approach, where children are immersed in the learning process. They are actively and purposefully engaged throughout each day. Every moment is a teachable moment and our curriculum is designed to encompass all areas of early childhood development, while making certain to meet the needs of the individual child and capitalize on their personal interests and motivations.
We offer many varied opportunities for learning through active play, social interaction and 1:1 instruction. Our goal is to foster a strong sense of self-worth in the children that will provide a strong framework of success for overcoming all later life experiences and challenges.
We embrace the belief that you, our parents, are the first and most important teachers in your child’s life. We look to you for guidance and support in helping us ease your child’s transition into school. The family connection is fostered throughout the year as we continually urge parents to participate in classroom activities, read-alouds and social activities. We have an open-door policy and parents are encouraged to schedule time to volunteer in their child’s classroom.
Our program is built around the concept that children are born ready to learn. As caregivers, we strive to create a learning environment that is safe, stimulating and encouraging.
Being around children is what simply brings me joy! Psalm 127:3 couldn’t have described it better, “Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him.” Children offer us so much and I am beyond excited both teach them and also learn from them as a teacher at Vinehouse Nursery. I was born in raised in the sweet home Alabama, and though I have traveled a bit to work out of state, I’m without a doubt a southern girl at heart! I attended Alabama A&M University (Go Bulldogs!) where I received a Bachelor's degree is Human Resources. After working in the insurance industry at State Farm Insurance, I retired and began spending my time volunteering with children at various schools. What started out as a volunteer activity quickly became my weekly routine as I have worked with children ages 6 months to 8 years old at a number of schools within Alabama. I am so blessed to have found my second calling. Working with children makes me smile, as it’s humbling to know that you are growing the future leaders of this world! When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, children, and extended family.
I didn’t realize how much I love working with children until I got into childcare a few years ago. My first job in childcare came to me when a family friend offered me a position at her place of work and I haven’t looked back since. I have worked with children from birth to age 5 years old and I have loved them all. I was born and raised in beautiful Auburn, Al. After completing my associates degree at Southern Union, I decided to move closer to Birmingham to further my education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. For me, working in childcare means there will never be a dull moment as kids are so happy and full of life and wonder. I am so blessed to have the trust of so many parents to take care of their precious gift. For this, I am happy God has shown me that I can handle the trust and responsibility that comes with it. I believe in Vinehouse and I am excited to be a part of a family who has a genuine passion to help grow children. During my spare time, I love reading and spending time with my amazing family and friends.
I have always had a special place in my heart for children. However, it was not until I had my own children that I realized how essential it is that we equip our children, at an early age, with the tools necessary to build a strong foundation for their lives. Proverbs 22:6 states, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." I believe that I am called help train up the tiniest of hearts, as it is never too early to start. I was born in Vicksburg, MS but raised in Birmingham, AL and I am a graduate of Highlands College. In 2017, I published my first children's book and there are plans for more to follow. I have two children, Arianna and Melvin. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family, being creative, and serving the community.
Hello! My name is Lesley Keith and I was born and raised in Alabaster, AL. Prior to retiring after 34 years, I worked for the City of Alabaster as a librarian. I’m married to my wonderful husband, Mark, who is the preacher ofthe Alabaster Church of Christ. Together, we have a beautiful daughter named Portia and two amazing grandkids, Josiah and Tianna. Being a grandmother is awesome. In our home, we have always lived by Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when they are old he will not depart from it”. Our daughter also lives by that rule in her home with our two grandkids. I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to be working here at Vinehouse Nursery. I believe the children are our future. We should always teach them and one day they will lead the way. In my spare time, I enjoy studying God’s Word, spoiling my grandkids, decorating, cooking, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
My first experience working with children came from volunteering in a church nursery and children's church program. I really enjoyed watching the children grow and helping them learn and discover new things. My career path took me in another direction; however, I always wanted to work with children in some capacity. I was born and raised in Birmingham Alabama. I graduated from Ramsay High School and attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and UAB. I retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama in May 2018 after 29 years of service. I have enjoyed my retirement thus far but I still have a strong desire to work. I began following Vinehouse Nursery when it opened in 2017 and have been amazed at the wonderful childcare program being offered. When I learned Vinehouse Nursery was looking for additional staff, I jumped at the chance to apply. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy reading, music and travelling. I am excited that I get to work with this great childcare program.
Hello! my name is Brianna Carpenter. I have always adored children and the smiles they bring to others. Being around children may sometimes be difficult but they never cease to amaze me with their knowledge they already have. This is my first year working in a child development center and working at Vinehouse Nursery has made me want to continue my education at Jefferson State to pursue a child development degree. I also plan to open my own daycare one day. I am originally from North Carolina but moved to Alabama when I was younger. I graduated from Sumiton Christian high school in 2018. I have always loved going to church and I currently attend Gardendale First Baptist. In my free time, I just like to relax and go shopping.

Hi! My name is Rickeyda Carter, but all of my children call me Ms. Keyda. I have been working with children since I was 13 years old and I’ve been working in childcare facilities since 2012. Being an educator has always been a passion of mine and brings me great joy. It is an honor knowing that I am helping to mold and nurture our future leaders, teachers, doctors, lawyers, police officers, fire fighters etc. Everyday is a new an awesome adventure for us. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, listening to music, and that’s right you guessed it… working with children.
John 15:5 states that "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” At Vinehouse Nursery that is my exact goal for all of our children. I am a firm believer that all children can learn and that education first starts when a child is in a mother’s womb. When a parent and a caregiver can provide and educate a child together, that child’s future will start off as a “tiny seed and blossom into a beautiful flower.” By focusing on a high, quality child care center, a nurturing culture, and a safe and eco-friendly environment, I am here to make sure every child receives the best education from birth to 4 years old.
My history in the education arena began many years ago as I was teaching my dolls long before I officially became a teacher. I was born in Asheville, North Carolina and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I went to Auburn University in 2006-2009 (WAR EAGLE!) where I received a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. I then continued to further my education from 2009-2010 where I received a Master’s in Elementary Education. While in graduate school I was so blessed to study abroad in Arusha, Tanzania. While in Africa, I had the pleasure of teaching third and fourth graders.
After graduation, I taught Pre-K in LaGrange, Georgia at Unity Elementary School. I then relocated back to Auburn, Alabama where I taught second grade at Dean Road Elementary School for two years. I eventually returned to my roots in North Carolina where I taught first grade for four years at Shamrock Gardens Elementary School in Charlotte. In 2016, I was nominated by my school as Teacher of the Year, which led me to be the 2016 Charlotte North Rotary Club Teacher of the Year winner. I was recently named, Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2019, by the Harbert College of Business at Auburn University.
In addition to my classroom experience, I have also worked at a child development center for over 12 years in both Alabama and North Carolina as an infant, toddler, and pre-K teacher, as well as, a camp counselor. I currently hold the following certifications:
◦ State of Alabama Teaching Certification License
◦ State of Georgia Teaching Certification License
◦ State of North Carolina Teaching Certification License
◦ Alabama Reading Initiative Certification

◦ Certified Infant Massage Instructor
◦ First Aid and CPR Certification
I am excited to continue planting smiles, growing giggles, and harvesting love at Vinehouse Nursery. Let’s start digging!
